Swedish trainer Kim Björkegren has been appointed as the head coach of Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens.

His appointment follows the departure of Nora Hauptle, who left the position after failing to agree on a new contract at the end of 2024.

Hauptle has since taken over as coach of Zambian football powerhouse after successfully qualifying Ghana for the 2025 Women’s AFCON, scheduled to take place in Morocco from July 5 to July 26.

At 43 years old, Björkegren brings a wealth of experience, having coached in various countries, including China, Sweden, Cyprus, and the United States.

He will lead a revamped technical team for the Black Queens, with Charles Sampson and Anita Wiredu joining him as assistant coaches.
