The Amansie South Police has begun a manhunt for two suspected armed robbers who escaped with gold and other valuables at Manso Watreso in Ashanti Region.

The police sprung into action after residents of the town lynched two accomplices after they attacked some community mining workers who had closed from work.

The Assembly Member for the Manso Watreso Electoral Area, Kofi Mensah, narrating the incident, said the robbers seized over 30 pounds of gold, pickup truck keys, and more than GH¢11,000 in cash.

When they attempted to flee the scene, some eyewitnesses raised an alarm, leading to the apprehension and lynching of the two.

The two others, however, were able to escape the angry mob.

Meanwhile, the police have since deposited the bodies of the deceased at the mortuary as they continue with the search for the others.

This follows a terrifying armed robbery incident that occurred on the Accra-Assin Fosu road on Saturday, January 11, which left multiple passengers traumatised after their valuables were taken at gunpoint.

The attack happened between Ayeldo and Sekyerew-Nyakumasi Ahenkuro’s deplorable road around 6:30 p.m.

The victims reported being brutally beaten for not having enough money on them.

According to them, the armed robbers made off with a substantial amount of cash, including ¢17,000, ¢12,000, and GH¢1,800. The victims were forced to lie down during the ordeal.

The Abura Aseibu Kwamankese (AAK) District Police patrol team arrived, calmed the situation, and pledged to investigate the robbery thoroughly.
