In a formal resignation letter dated January 13, 2025, Samuel Awuku has stepped down as the Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) to focus on his new role as a Member of Parliament for the Akwapim North constituency.
Mr. Awuku, who was elected to Parliament in the 2024 general elections, expressed his commitment to serving his constituents and acknowledged the need to dedicate his full attention to his parliamentary responsibilities.
In his letter, he stated, “In light of this new responsibility, I wish to focus my efforts on serving as a Member of Parliament.”
Mr. Awuku was appointed Director General of the NLA in August 2021, with his appointment confirmed by the Public Services Commission in July 2022.
Reflecting on his tenure, he acknowledged the need for a smooth transition and urged the appointment of a successor to ensure continuity in the authority’s operations.
“I kindly request that you appoint a replacement for the position of Director General to facilitate a smooth transition and handover of responsibilities,” he wrote.
As he transitioned to his new role, Mr. Awuku extended well wishes to the leadership of the NLA and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
The NLA has yet to announce a replacement for the position of director general.
