Several travellers have allegedly been injured after gunmen attacked their bus at Pusi-Namoo, a suburb of Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
The bus was travelling from Garu in the Upper East Region to Kumasi when the assailants ambushed it and opened fire on the passengers around 8 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
The injured persons have since been sent to the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga.
While it is not clear what triggered the attack, the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
This comes a day after two persons were killed in a violent clash between two factions in Bawku in the same region.
The confrontation took place in the Kpalore-Gozesi area, leading to the arrest of four people and the seizure of eight assault rifles by security forces.
The suspects have been transferred to the Upper East Regional police headquarters in Bolgatanga for further investigation.
