Electrochem condemns violent raid by alleged NDC supporters
Electrochem Ghana Limited has condemned the violent attack by alleged supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on its premises.
On January 9, around 3:00 AM, armed men invaded Electrochem Ghana Limited and ransacked the place. Several staff members sustained injuries during the chaos.
In a statement, Chief Executive Officer, Abdul Razak Adam, expressed concerns about the havoc caused by the alleged armed men.
The statement accused the armed men of stealing essential office supplies and a significant quantity of salt products from the warehouse.
“This morning, at approximately 3:00 am, our facility at Electrochem Ghana Limited was violently invaded and ransacked by armed assailants wielding cutlasses and firearms. The perpetrators, who explicitly stated that they were sent from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) headquarters, were led by a known NDC activist.
“This brazen attack is not an isolated incident but part of a disturbing trend that poses a grave threat to the safety and security of our employees and the integrity of our operations. The assailants wreaked havoc on our premises, stealing essential office supplies and a significant quantity of our salt product from the warehouse.”
The salt mining company expressed concerns about the financial loss as a result of the invasion.
“This criminal act has resulted in considerable financial losses and a profound disruption to our daily operations. More alarmingly, some of our staff members sustained injuries during the chaos, underscoring the urgent need for protective measures and accountability.”
The statement emphasized that such lawlessness threatens the trust between both local and international investors.
“Such lawlessness undermines the investment climate in our region and threatens the trust we have cultivated with both local and international investors who have committed substantial resources to our endeavours.”
Electrochem is demanding an investigation, insisting that perpetrators should face the full rigours of the law.
