The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly refuted allegations made by Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A-Plus, claiming that the party reached out to him for collaboration after he was elected the independent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Gomoa Central Constituency in the Central Region.
In a statement released on Monday, January 6, 2025, the NPP clarified that no such engagement had taken place sanctioned by the party.
The statement, signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, categorically denied that anyone had been authorised to represent the NPP in discussions with A-Plus.
“We want to make it clear that the New Patriotic Party has neither met with A-Plus nor appointed anyone to engage with him on our behalf,” the statement read.
This clarification comes after A-Plus made claims on social media, stating that the NPP, under the leadership of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, had approached him with an offer of collaboration.
According to A-Plus, the NPP promised not to contest the Gomoa Central seat in the 2028 elections if he agreed to align with them in Parliament. He described the offer as a clear indication of the party’s intent to gain his support.
The NPP dismissed these claims as unfounded and urged the public to disregard any misleading narratives.
They reiterated their commitment to transparency and dedication to upholding the party’s integrity.
Additionally, A-Plus revealed in his post that he had yet to meet with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to discuss a possible collaboration, noting that his sympathies lean towards the umbrella party.
