Akufo-Addo confident about his legacy

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed confidence in the legacy of his administration as he prepares to step down on January 7, 2025.

Speaking at the launch of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s Bicentennial Anniversary on Sunday, December 22, the president reflected on his government’s achievements and reiterated his belief in the long-term benefits of his policies.

Despite the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, losing the 2024 general elections, Mr. Akufo-Addo maintained that his administration had made significant strides in various sectors.

“I stand before you proud of the achievements my government has chalked under God’s guidance and the support of our people,” the president stated.

“From transformative policies in education, health, industry, infrastructure, and agriculture to the promotion of good governance and economic development.”

President Akufo-Addo highlighted key social interventions, particularly in health, education, and energy, noting their positive impact on the quality of life for Ghanaians.

He expressed confidence that his tenure would be remembered as a period of significant progress.

“In all humility, I am confident that posterity will judge my government favourably. Future generations will recognise that we laid a solid foundation for national prosperity and progress,” he remarked.

The president also lauded the Presbyterian Church of Ghana for its invaluable contributions to education, healthcare, and moral development over the past 200 years.

He acknowledged the church’s role as a steadfast partner in national development and a source of spiritual support throughout his tenure.

“The gospel’s influence is evident not only in schools and hospitals but also in the moral fabric of our nation,” Akufo-Addo said.

“Your prayers have sustained me, and your faith has inspired me to persevere during challenging times.”

As he approaches the end of his presidency, Akufo-Addo reiterated his gratitude to the Presbyterian Church and the Ghanaian people for their unwavering support, emphasising his hope that his administration’s efforts will continue to benefit the nation in the years to come.
