The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has arrested a man for falsely presenting himself as a soldier in a viral video.
The suspect, Alex Cobbinah, was seen wearing a Ghana Navy vest and displaying other military items in the video.
He further alleged that President-elect John Dramani Mahama planned to dismiss soldiers recruited into the GAF through protocol means.
In a statement, the Ghana Armed Forces said initial investigations revealed that Cobbinah had uploaded other videos on social media, pretending to be a member of the military while wearing official accoutrements.
This prompted the Military Police to swiftly launch an investigation and successfully tracked him.
They arrested Cobbinah at his residence at Madina Zongo Junction in Accra.

He was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigations.
The Ghana Armed Forces also reminded the public that the National Liberation Council Decree (NLCD) 177 of 1967, which states that no civilian shall wear military informs or accoutrements is still in existence.
It continued “The public is hereby cautioned that anyone who pays monies to agents or individuals with the hope of securing enlistment into GAF is equally culpable in the fraudulent act”.
