A 64-year-old man has died after being knocked down by a car and run over by another at Oteng Nkwanta on the Santase to Ahenema Kokoben road in Kumasi.
The man, identified as Rev. John Kyereme, was knocked down by a Kia Pregio commercial bus on December 12, 2024, while crossing the highway.
Before he could be rescued, another speeding car ran over him worsening his already severe injuries.
He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) but was pronounced dead on arrival.
“Suspect driver Isaac Nti, aged 32, was driving a Kia Pregio commercial bus with registration number GN 3049-11, loaded with passengers from Santasi Roundabout towards Ahenema Kokoben direction.

“On reaching a section of the road at Oteng Nkwanta, the vehicle knocked down a male adult pedestrian by name Rev. John Kyereme, aged 64, who was crossing the road.
“Victim sustained serious injuries and was again ran over by a driver in charge of vehicle No. GS 1224-20, who failed to stop,” a report by the Suame Divisional police said.
It added that the suspect driver has since been arrested and his car has been impounded for investigation.
Meanwhile, the body has deposited at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
