A 40-year-old man, Stephen Alatey, is currently on the run after allegedly killing his wife and stepdaughter at Aha-nso-wode, near Agona Bobikuma in the Central Region.
According to police sources, Alatey is the prime suspect in the murder of his wife and stepdaughter and an attack on a hunter who attempted to save the remaining children.
The incident occurred when Alatey, who had marital issues, convinced his wife and three children to leave their village for Adeiso in the Eastern Region.
However, while walking toward the roadside, Alatey reportedly launched a brutal attack on them, killing his wife and stepdaughter in the process.
The two other children, terrified by the attack, cried out for help.
This attracted the attention of a hunter who intervened to rescue them.
Unfortunately, Alatey turned his rage toward the hunter, inflicting severe cutlass wounds on him before fleeing the scene.
George Awotwe, assemblyman for the Upper Bobikuma Electoral Area, confirming the incident, said, “The hunter is currently receiving treatment at the Agona Swedru Municipal Hospital, while the two surviving children have been placed under police protection.”
The Agona Bobikuma Police have launched an investigation and are actively searching for the suspect.
Police are urging anyone with information about Stephen Alatey’s whereabouts to volunteer to bring him to books.
