Report: Man Utd set shock Marcus Rashford asking price
Manchester United have set an asking price of £40m for winger Marcus Rashford heading into the January transfer window, a report has claimed.
It was recently revealed that Rashford, whose £325,000-a-week contract runs until 2028, is among the United stars available for transfer in 2025 as new owners INEOS seek to raise funds and lower their wage bill.
Rashford has often been linked with a move away from United in the past and has regularly been hit with a price tag of around £100m but now, with the Red Devils open to a sale, the Daily Mail state that asking price has dropped to just £40m.
The England international’s high salary has forced United to lower their demands in the hope of encouraging bidders to take a significant financial risk on a player whose form has tumbled dramatically over the past 18 months.
There is, however, little optimism inside Old Trafford that any suitors will emerge in the January transfer window.
United are expected to be open to offers for the vast majority of their squad in 2025, with only “crown jewels” Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho believed to be off limits alongside the “untouchable” Leny Yoro.
Officials are still keen to keep hold of Amad Diallo, Matthijs de Ligt, Bruno Fernandes, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte, whereas the likes of Antony, Casemiro, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw would all be available for the right price.
For Antony, that price is believed to sit at just £23m – a £63m loss on their outlay in 2022.
