Halt transition process until disputed seats are resolved – Annoh-Dompreh to Akufo-Addo

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has urged President Nana Akufo-Addo to halt all transition processes until all parliamentary results are fully declared by the Electoral Commission.

The Majority Chief Whip’s appeal follows incidents of violence that disrupted the collation of results in the December 7 polls within the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency.

Addressing supporters at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) office in Nsawam, Mr Annoh-Dompreh emphasised the need to ensure that the results for four key constituencies—Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Suhum, Akwatia, and Fanteakwa North—are officially declared by the EC.

According to him, these constituencies were won by the NPP.

“Let me appeal to the outgoing president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. We know he has set in motion a transition process as a matter of course. We want to appeal to the president: he who comes to equity must come with clean hands, so the transition process should be halted.

“His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should halt the transition process, and John Dramani Mahama, president-elect, must show the same equity, must speak to his people, and we must ensure that all the other seats are declared duly by the EC before the transition process goes on,” he stated.

Mr Annoh-Dompreh argued that if the president refuses to halt the process, it could give the impression that the party’s interests are being neglected.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has met with President-elect John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House to commence the transition process.
