The Electoral Commission (EC) has clarified that no results have been received or shared yet at the National Collation Centre.
This announcement was made during a press conference earlier today, December 8.
For the first time in Ghana’s Fourth Republic, the EC has opened the National Collation Centre to the media, a move officials described as a commitment to enhancing transparency in the electoral process.
Addressing journalists on December 6, Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations, emphasised the significance of this initiative.
He explained that granting media access to the centre would enable all Ghanaians to follow the collation of presidential election results in real-time, helping to dispel doubts and build public trust in the process.
The National Collation Centre is fully equipped with fax machines dedicated to each of Ghana’s 16 regions.
These machines are ready to receive collated results from regional centres as they are transmitted.
This unprecedented step by the EC demonstrates its dedication to fostering transparency and accountability during the collation and announcement of election results, ensuring that the public remains informed throughout the process.
