The Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has issued key directives to ensure a peaceful electoral process today, Saturday, December 7, 2024.
One of the main directives urges voters to leave polling stations immediately after casting their ballots.
This is to maintain order and prevent unnecessary gatherings at polling centres.
While some political party members have previously been encouraged to remain at polling stations to ensure vigilance, REGSEC emphasized that robust security measures are already in place to guarantee a peaceful and incident-free environment before, during, and after the elections.
Additionally, the Council has warned vigilante groups, “macho men”, and private security guards to stay away from polling centres.
Anyone found violating these directives will face legal consequences.
REGSEC called on all stakeholders to cooperate and adhere to these guidelines to ensure a free, fair, transparent, and peaceful electoral process.
“We expect full compliance to uphold the integrity of the elections and maintain national peace,” the statement concluded.
