Ghana winger Yaw Yeboah leaves Columbus Crew

Ghanaian midfielder Yaw Yeboah will leave Columbus Crew when his contract expires at the end of December.

The Ohio-based club declined Yeboah’s extra-year contract option at the end of the 2024 season.

However, the 27-year-old is eligible for the MLS Re-Entry Process.

Forever a Champion. Thank you, Yaw, for your time in Black & Gold. We wish you the best in your next chapter,” posted Crew on X.

Yeboah joined Columbus Crew in 2022 on a two-year deal with the option of a further year from Polish topflight side Wisla Krakow.

He established himself as a key figure at the Lower.com Stadium, scoring the winner in the 2023 Major League Soccer final to clinch a third title for Columbus Crew.

Yeboah, however, struggled to replicate last season’s form, coming off the bench in most of the matches in the regular season. He made 24 appearances, scoring once and delivering three assists.

He could not participate in the playoffs, as the Gold and Black lost to the eventual Eastern Conference champions, the New York Red Bulls.

The former Manchester City player could continue his career in the MLS due to the Re-Entry process.
