Thomas Partey marks return with assist as Arsenal beat Man United
Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has marked his return from injury with a commanding performance in Arsenal’s latest English Premier League win.
Partey registered an assist as Arsenal beat Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium 2-0 after missing The Gunners previous game against Nottingham Forest.
The veteran midfielder connected his head to a Bukayo Saka cross into the central area of the penalty box where the ball inadvertently hit Arsenal defender William Saliba in the hip area and into the net in the 73rd minute for Arsenal’s second. Jurrien Timber scored Arsenal’s first.
Partey missed Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the same venue in the immediate past round of games in the league due to a muscle injury he picked up just before the game.
Prior to the incident, Partey had played in every league game for The Gunners in the 2024-2025 season; he now has two goals and an assist in 13 games.
In 90 minutes against Man United, Partey had 69 touches while completing 56 of 61 passes and connecting with teammates on all six long pass attempts.
The loss is Man United new head coach Ruben Amorim’s first since his appointment. Arsenal take on Fulham next on Sunday, December 8 at Craven Cottage.
