Ghanaians are right to demand Otto Addo’s sack – Ben Nunoo Mensah

Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) president, Ben Nunoo Mensah, has backed the calls for the sacking of Black Stars coach, Otto Addo.

After failing to guide the senior national team to book a place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the 47-year-old trainer has come under serious scrutiny with several Ghanaians demanding his dismissal.

The Black Stars recorded their worst performance in the qualifiers. After six games, the team recorded three draws and three defeats and finished at the bottom of Group F with three points, which means the four-time African champions will not compete at the tournament in Morocco next year for the first time in 20 years.

Speaking in an interview, Ben Nunoo Mensah, said someone must take responsibility for the Black Stars’ failure to qualify and insist that Ghanaians have every right to call for Otto Addo’s sack.

“Ghanaians have every right to call for the sack of the coach,” he told Asempa FM.

“I believe that somebody must take responsibility for the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the AFCON tournament. For failing to win a single game in the qualifiers and also failing to qualify for is a total embarrassment,” he added.

The Black Stars will hope to put up an improved performance when they take on Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March 2025.

Meanwhile, Otto Addo’s future is yet to be decided by the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after a marathon meeting last week to review his technical reports after Black Stars’ failure
