‘I can’t believe Black Stars couldn’t qualify for 2025 AFCON’ – Stonebwoy
Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, a Ghanaian Afropop, Afro-dancehall, and reggae musician, has expressed his disbelief over Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars managed only three draws and suffered two defeats in a group that featured Angola, Sudan, and Niger, leaving them with no chance of progressing to the tournament in Morocco next year.
Stonebwoy was at the AFCON 2023 at the Cote d’Ivoire where Ghana was eliminated from the group stage in a group with Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
“Last AFCON, I was there and I witnessed it and you can tell I love and enjoyed it and it’s sad. I can believe it. I’m still in disbelieve but that is the reality,” the VGMAs Artist of the Year said in an interview with Asempa Sports.
“This tell you that we have things to work with the team, Ghana Football Association. I hope that this is taken care of so that next time we make it.
“At least African Cup, Ghana has always been beautiful team to watch so I don’t know what the world will be watching now without Ghana. I know they will miss the Ghana Team but it’s unfortunate.
It marked the first time in two decades that the four-time African champions have failed to qualify for the continent’s biggest football competition since their absence in 2004.
