The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), in partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, has announced the launch of a direct flight service from London Gatwick Airport to Kumasi Prempeh I International Airport (PIA).
Set to commence on December 3, 2024, this new route marks a historic milestone in Ghana’s aviation and tourism sectors, improving connectivity between Europe and the Ashanti Region, a hub of cultural heritage and economic activity.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, November 28, the Management of GACL indicated that the initiative is aimed at enhancing travel options and convenience for passengers.
The direct flights, which will operate on a regular basis, will depart from London Gatwick Airport at 02:10 am and arrive at Prempeh I International Airport, Kumasi at 09:05 am.
The return flights will depart from Kumasi at 11:00 am and arrive in London at 6:00 pm.
The second flight is scheduled for December 15, 2024, just in time for the festive season, providing a seamless travel option for visitors to the Ashanti Region during Christmas.
