Gas station owner killed in bloody robbery

Tragedy struck in the early hours of Thursday, November 28, 2024, at Gomoa Akotsi in the Central Region, as two armed robbers shot and killed Martin Okyere, a 50-year-old gas station owner.

According to eyewitness Richmond Agyei, he heard multiple gunshots prompting him to rush to the scene.

Upon arrival, he found the robbers ransacking the deceased’s room, with Mr. Okyere lying in a pool of blood.

Agyei and the deceased’s daughter narrowly escaped with their lives while attempting to rescue Mr. Okyere.

Unfortunately, he succumbed to his gunshot wounds and passed away.

The family of the deceased is calling for justice, with Martin’s sister, Lucas Esi, urging the Ghana Police Service to ensure that the perpetrators face the law.

It is the second fuel station attack within the week.

At the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region, armed robbers opened fire at a filling station in Dormabin, killing one person in the process.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim, Isaac Dampoki, had visited the filling station to purchase fuel when the robbers, armed with sophisticated guns, stormed the premises and began shooting sporadically.
