2024 polls: We’re ready for special voting on December 2 – EC
The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the special voting exercise to elect presidential and parliamentary candidates on December 2, 2024, is set to proceed.
The special voting exercise allows specific groups of registered voters, such as journalists and security personnel, to cast their votes ahead of the general election due to their crucial roles in the December 7 elections.
The voters for the special exercise will cast their ballots at the 276 designated voting centres across the country.
During an interaction with the National Security Task Force, chaired by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo-Dampare, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa confirmed that all arrangements were in place for a smooth exercise on Monday, December 2, 2024.
Speaking on the general election on December 7, Mrs Mensa disclosed that 95 per cent of the ballot papers had been distributed, with biometric verification machines already on their way to district offices for further deployment on election day.
“Ballot papers are expected to be deployed on Tuesday, November 26, to the Northern, Bono, and Bono East regions; the remaining areas are yet to receive them,” she noted.
