Kuami Eugene reveals why Rockstar Records won’t sign new artists—yet
Kuami Eugene, Ghana’s highlife and afrobeat sensation, has drawn a clear line regarding his plans for Rockstar Records.
For now, the label he founded will remain solely dedicated to amplifying his career, with no intentions of signing other artists.
In an interview with an Accra-based radio station, the ‘Monica’ hitmaker shed light on his vision.
“The Kuami Eugene brand is a handful. Even as a single artist, it’s not been easy. So, adding someone now, I don’t think it’s advisable,” he revealed.
Kuami Eugene, born Eugene Kwame Marfo, explained that managing his burgeoning career demands relentless dedication.
He highlighted the importance of fully establishing his brand before venturing into nurturing other talents.
“Maybe in the future, I will ask Richie [Mensah] if he thinks I should start signing people, but I don’t think I will do it now. I have so much to do as Kuami Eugene, myself.”
The award-winning artist outlined his ambitions, including hosting massive concerts and launching personal initiatives.
“I should do maybe a 20,000-capacity event; I should have my own Rockstar show, and this is the first time I am coming up with ‘Let the Kids Come to Kuami Eugene,’” he said.
“I am doing all these things to cement myself in the music industry, and if I get closer, I will start working with other people as well.”
Despite not signing artists under Rockstar Records, Kuami Eugene acknowledged his role as a bridge for struggling musicians.
“They think I have a lot of studios; there is money to shoot something for them, and I have a connection,” Eugene said.
“I have made some calls for people to play their songs for them, so sometimes when things go wrong, they think they can get results when they come to me.”
He also shared an exciting milestone for Rockstar Records: its growing presence in the UK and the USA, bolstered by a fresh deal with Ditto Music.
“We even have reps in the UK and USA as well. I just signed my contract with Ditto Music, and that one is under Rockstar Records,” he said.
Kuami Eugene didn’t forget to credit Richie Mensah and Lynx Entertainment, his long-time mentors, for their unwavering guidance as he carves his independent path.
For Kuami Eugene, the focus is clear—he’s building a legacy as one of Ghana’s finest music exports.
And while the doors of Rockstar Records may one day be open to other talents, for now, it remains the engine driving his rise to global stardom.
