Tragedy struck at a filling station in Dormabin at the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region, when armed robbers opened fire, killing one person.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim, Isaac Dampoki, had visited the filling station to purchase fuel when the robbers, armed with sophisticated guns, stormed the premises and began shooting sporadically.
Dampoki was hit by a stray bullet and sustained severe injuries.
The robbers bolted with GH¢9,000, leaving the victim to fight for his life.
He was rushed to a CHPS compound for treatment and later referred to the Worawora Government Hospital.
Unfortunately, Dampoki succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead while in transit to the hospital.
The Dambai Police Command has launched an investigation into the matter and beefed up security in the area.
The incident has sparked widespread concern among residents, with many calling for increased security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
As the community mourns the loss of Isaac Dampoki, the police are urging anyone with information about the armed robbery to come forward and assist in the investigation.
