The Electoral Commission (EC) has debunked a misleading broadcast by a Kumasi-based radio and television presenter on the dates for the 2024 presidential election.

The video, recorded in the studios of Wontumi FM in Kumasi, depicts the presenter encouraging voters to cast their ballots for presidential candidates on separate days.

Reacting to the publication, the EC asked the public to disregard the “misleading statements”.

The commission assured that the 2024 election will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, as scheduled.

It reminded voters that polling stations will be open from 7 am to 5 pm on December 7, while encouraging the public to go out in their numbers and cast their votes in an orderly manner.

Meanwhile, the police announced on Saturday, November 23, that they had arrested the presenter, Oheneba Nana Asiedu .

In a statement, the police said the presenter published false news, which goes against Section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
