MP for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh, has denied his involvement in a recent demolition of a building belonging to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

The state broadcaster had accused Mr. Tetteh of illegally demolishing its staff bungalows in Weija.

In a statement on its social media handles, GBC said the police were called on Thursday, November 21, to prevent the demolition from further proceeding.

“The Management of GBC with the help of Ghana Police Service this afternoon stopped the Deputy Minister of Information and MP for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh, from continued illegal demolition of government buildings on GBC land at Weija,” the statement read.

Reacting to the accusations, the Deputy Information Minister attributed the issue to administrative lapses within GBC.

He explained that there was an agreement between the GA South Municipal Assembly and the broadcaster to use the disputed land for a public school.

Mr. Tetteh continued that this agreement led the assembly to demolish the structure.

He also dared GBC’s Director of Legal Affairs to provide evidence that he demolished the structure illegally.

“As a sector deputy minister, and my boss will approve that, I will institute investigations into how GBC lands have ended up building private homes here where we are standing. So he should get ready. If he’s a director of legal and he had the impudence to report his sector deputy minister to the police and had the guts to put my picture on their social media handle.

“I want to deal with the matter of lies that have been spilt about me that I have forcefully demolished the bungalow. What he claimed to be GBC property was a bungalow. There’s no bungalow here. There’s an old, dilapidated structure here, and let me tell you, there’s one man who has been an occupant of that place,” he said.
