The Ghana Police Service has interdicted Detective Corporal Baba Amando Ibrahim over a viral video showing him mistreating a handcuffed man.
The video captures Corporal Ibrahim repeatedly slapping the man and ordering him to “go down.”
The visibly distressed man asked to be spoken to calmly, but the officer persisted, grabbing him by the neck during the altercation.
In a statement, the police cited Corporal Ibrahim for professional misconduct and said the interdiction would facilitate a thorough investigation.
Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has reached out to the victim’s family, promising necessary support.
The police have reaffirmed their commitment to upholding professionalism and accountability.
Meanwhile, the IGP has directed the Savannah Regional Police Commander to collaborate with the family to address the matter appropriately.
