Let’s allow Otto Addo to at least finish with the World Cup qualifiers – Laryea Kingston
Laryea Kingston, a former Ghana international, urges stakeholders to be patient with Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, despite the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Kingston believes Addo should remain in charge until the end of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, giving him a chance to turn things around.
“I think we should allow him to at least finish the World Cup qualifiers, who knows? Maybe he can qualify. And then after that, we decide a country. So we should give him another opportunity,” Laryea Kingston remarked.
He warned that making drastic changes to the technical team now could be disastrous for Ghana’s football ambitions.
“If we change the coach and the technical team and bring new faces, it will be a disaster,” he warned.
Addo has faced significant criticism after Ghana’s disappointing performance, but he remains resolute, expressing no intention of stepping down. The Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Executive Council is scheduled to meet today, November 20, to decide Addo’s future with the national team.
Interestingly, Addo has reflected on the team’s loss to Sudan, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, unity, and adaptability. He acknowledged the setback but remains optimistic about the team’s potential.²
It seems Coach Addo’s fate hangs in the balance, and the upcoming meeting will determine his future with the Black Stars.
