President Macron honours Akufo-Addo with “Grand Officier de la Légion d’Honneur” in France
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has awarded France’s prestigious Grand Officier de la Légion d’Honneur to the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
This esteemed honour awarded during an official state visit to France recognizes President Akufo-Addo’s remarkable contributions to diplomacy, democratic governance, and international cooperation.
The award ceremony was held in Paris, following a working lunch between President Macron and President Akufo-Addo, highlighting the strengthening bond between France and Ghana.
The Grand Officier de la Légion d’Honneur is one of France’s highest honours, established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802.
It acknowledges exceptional service to France and the global community in fields such as public service, diplomacy, arts, science, and humanitarian efforts.
It is reported that President Akufo-Addo’s achievements have earned him international recognition, showcasing his dedication to public service and impactful contributions globally.
His presidency has been marked by significant initiatives, including promoting a “Ghana beyond aid” agenda and implementing programs like free senior secondary education.
