Minister of Trade, Kobina Tahir (K.T.) Hammond has filed a criminal complaint against the MP for Ketu North, Dr James Klutse Avedzi, over an alleged assault.
This follows a video which went viral after the indefinite adjournment of Parliament.
In the video, some National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs including Dr Avedzi, who is also the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), are seen in a heated exchange with K.T. Hammond.
The police have since given the Trade Minister a medical form to be examined at any government hospital.
“This man came out of nowhere and started pushing me, I kept shouting you can’t push me like that. He pushed me about five times. What did he think he was doing? I have filed a complaint,” he said.

Meanwhile, he has vowed to pursue the case through to its conclusion.
This follows K.T. Hammond’s heated promise that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Caucus in Parliament would cite the Speaker of Parliament for contempt.
This happened after Speaker Alban Bagbin indefinitely adjourned Parliament on Thursday, November 7, citing a lack of business due to the absence of NPP members in the House.
The visibly upset Trade Minister was of the view that the Speaker did not respect the decision of the court, which had stayed his decision to declare four seats vacant.
