2025 AFCONQ: It will be a tough task for Ghana to qualify, says Angola coach

Angola head coach, Pedro Goncalves, believes Ghana faces a challenging path to secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Goncalves shared his perspective ahead of the Group F Matchday Five qualifier on Friday, November 15, at the Estádio 11 de Novembro.

The Black Stars are currently winless after four games, sitting in third place in Group F with just two points, behind both Angola’s Palancas Negras and Sudan.

Despite recognizing Ghana’s status as one of Africa’s top football nations, Goncalves noted that the team’s qualification hopes for the tournament in Morocco next year are uncertain.

“For us, playing against Ghana is always special,” Goncalves told Ghanasportspage. “Ghana is one of the best teams in African football, with exceptional players, particularly in midfield and attack.”

However, he added, “While Ghana is undoubtedly a strong contender, their chances of qualifying are low at the moment. They not only have to win but also depend on Sudan, who need only one point from two games to qualify. It’s a very tough challenge for Ghana.”

The Black Stars completed their final training session on Tuesday and are set to travel to Luanda later today.
