2025 AFCON Q: Black Stars to open camp on Sunday ahead of Angola and Niger games
The Black Stars will open camp on Sunday, November 10, 2024, to begin preparations for their final two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The team will be focused on securing vital points in their bid to qualify for the continental tournament.
Players featuring for their clubs are expected to join the camp on Sunday to kickstart preparations for the upcoming matches.
Ghana’s penultimate qualifier is scheduled for Friday, November 15, 2024, against Angola at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda.
The team will then face Niger in their last qualifier. Coach Otto Addo has already named his squad for these crucial games, which includes some exciting players like Leicester City star Jordan Ayew, who’s been named captain
Currently in third place in Group F with just two points from four matches, Ghana faces a tough challenge to secure qualification. They trail second-placed Sudan by five points and are 10 points behind group leaders Angola.
With their fate no longer in their own hands, the Black Stars must win both of their remaining matches while relying on Sudan to drop points in order to have any hope of advancing.
A single point for Sudan in their final fixtures would extinguish Ghana’s chances of reaching the AFCON for the first time in 20 years.
