The Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi Asokwa, Kobina Tahir (K.T.) Hammond has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Caucus in Parliament will cite the Speaker of Parliament for contempt.
This comes after Speaker Alban Bagbin indefinitely adjourned Parliament on Thursday, November 7, citing a lack of business due to the absence of NPP members in the House.
Their absence prevented the commencement of scheduled parliamentary proceedings, even though the NPP had initially called for the recall session.

Speaking to the media shortly after the adjournment, the Trade and Industry Minister, was of the view that the Speaker did not respect the decision of the court, which had stayed his decision to declare four seats vacant.
“The Speaker is behaving unconstitutionally; he has to respect the Supreme Court.
“We will cite him for contempt. Watch the space. We want the decision of the Supreme Court to be disrespected. It is not a question of acknowledgement; it is a question of implementation.
“It will be in the interest of Ghanaians for the Speaker to respect the ruling of the Supreme Court. It is for the Speaker to tell the House that his decision has been reverted,” he flared up.
This latest adjournment comes amid ongoing tensions between the Majority and Minority caucuses over which side is the majority in the House.
This has derailed parliamentary proceedings in recent weeks.
With the indefinite adjournment, it remains uncertain when Parliament will reconvene to address stalled issues, leaving the legislative agenda for this session in a state of flux.
