Funmi Onuma appointed general manager of SilverBird Cinemas West Africa
Funmi Onuma has been appointed general manager of SilverBird Cinemas West Africa.
Prior to her new appointment, Onuma served as country manager for Silverbird Cinemas Ghana.
Funmi Onuma is an experienced lifestyle and entertainment business leader with a passion for driving change and growth in the film industry across Africa.
She is also a management consultant, skilled negotiator, and visionary leader, who thrives in high-pressure environments and embrace diverse challenges with unwavering tenacity and creativity.
Sharing the news on Facebook on Monday (4 November), the National Film Authority (NFA) congratulated Unuma on her new appointment.
“Congratulations to Mrs. Funmi Onuma on your appointment as the General Manager of SilverBird Cinema West Africa! This is a remarkable feat.. We wish you success in your new role,” the NFA said.
FunmiOnuma, is the first ever female country manager to head a cinema not only in Ghana but also any cinema chain in Africa.
Under her leadership she has helped Silverbird Cinemas Ghana (SBCG) set the record of being the highest grossing cinema in the whole of West Africa for “Black Panther” in 2018 and the second highest grossing cinema in Africa.
With her achievements so far Funmi is showing she is not just leading a cinema, or a country but a continent.
Celluloid Junkie (CJ), the leading online resource dedicated to the global film and cinema business in 2020 named Funmilayo Onuma among the top 50 Women in Global Cinema.
