Queenmother of Bechem urges support for “visionary” Bawumia in 2024 Election
Nana Adwoapo Dwamena Serwaa II, the Paramount Queenmother of the Bechem Traditional Area in the Ahafo Region, has called on her community and all Ghanaians to prioritize Ghana’s future and elect Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the country’s next President.
Speaking during Dr. Bawumia’s visit to Bechem on Friday as part of his Ahafo Regional tour, the Queenmother praised his dedication and vision for Ghana.
“My fellow citizens, let us look at what is good for us as a country. Let us look at someone who has the nation at heart and someone who delivers what he promises,” said Nana Serwaa, urging voters to choose a leader with a track record of commitment to national progress.
The Queenmother highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s contributions as Vice President, particularly his role in spearheading key national innovations. She stressed the importance of continuity in leadership to maintain Ghana’s development trajectory. “When we get it right now, it will really help our country. We are on course as a nation with so many innovations, so let us not go back. We should give Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia an opportunity to continue with the good work he has started,” she urged.
Nana Serwaa, acknowledging the traditional stance against chiefs engaging in politics, expressed her strong support for Dr. Bawumia, noting the visible progress she has witnessed. “They say traditional rulers should not involve themselves in politics, but as for what we have seen with our eyes, we cannot gloss over them. We have been saying the good things we have been seeing and we will continue to say them.”
In a heartfelt message, she prayed for Dr. Bawumia’s success, saying, “My son, don’t worry. Remain resolute and be bold because victory awaits you. By the grace of God, you’ll be sworn in as President a month after December. By the grace of God, it will come to pass.”
