The Supreme Court has adjourned the case regarding the attempt to prevent the ousting of four legislators to November 11.
Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has also given Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin until Wednesday, November 6, to submit relevant documents in response to the application.
Earlier today, the court dismissed Mr Bagbin’s application to overturn its ruling that suspended his declaration of four seats vacant.
This follows a suit filed by Majority Leader in Parliament and Effutu MP Alexander Afenyo-Markin, which challenged the Speaker’s declaration.
Mr Bagbin’s legal team argued that the Supreme Court lacked jurisdiction, among other points.
However, after hearing arguments from all parties, including Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame, the court reaffirmed its earlier ruling, stating that Mr Bagbin’s appeal was without merit.
“We have considered the application, and we have come to the conclusion that the grounds supporting the application have no merit,” the Chief Justice stated.
