The report revealed that “there was a brief period of loss of consciousness. He was managed by both the plastic and orthopaedic surgeons.”
“He had debridement, spanning right ankle external fixation, and a flap cover on 14 October 2024. Findings at surgery showed an open right ankle joint dislocation with an unstable joint (Gastillo III B) and a tear of the anterior and posterior talofibular and calcaneofibular ligaments.”
The report further revealed that he required additional surgery on October 21, during which split skin grafting was performed to treat a post-traumatic ulcer.
“He is currently mobilising non-weight bearing on his right leg. He was discharged on 28th October 2024 to be reviewed on O.P.D basis.”
According to Dr Salawu, despite his recent hospital discharge, he is “currently not fit to be sent to the police station for interrogation.”
He, however, assured that once the teenager’s treatment is complete, authorities would be informed accordingly.
Meanwhile, families of the deceased girls have expressed frustration, questioning why the police are being restricted from interviewing the suspect.
The accident, which involved the boy driving a Jaguar, resulted in a deadly fire that trapped and killed the two girls.
Since then, the incident has ignited widespread debate and public scrutiny, with questions raised about the circumstances leading to the tragic crash.
