Treat employees as assets to grow your business – AGI to employers

Employers have been advised to treat employees as key assets to the growth and sustainability of their businesses.

“Employees are one of the important tools needed to build a strong workforce for tomorrow. Train them to adapt to the changing world of doing business to be able to compete favourably,” Mr. Joseph Garbrah, Chairman for the Western and Central Regional Branch, Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), has said.

He noted that treating employees with care boosts productivity, as it fosters a sense of belonging within the company.

Mr. Garbrah was speaking at the opening of the 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM), Exhibition and Job Fair of the Western and Central Regional Chapter of the AGI in Takoradi.

It was on theme ‘Empowering growth: Building a stronger workforce for tomorrow’ and provided a platform for businesses to showcase their products and services to their prospective customers.

Speaking further, Mr. Garbrah indicated that “capital alone cannot push businesses forward; employers have a duty to shape employees’ character to cope with changes in business”.

Mr. Seth Twum Akwaboah, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AGI, encouraged members of the association to actively participate in AGI’s activities to build a stronger connection and share ideas that would grow their businesses.

He praised the branch of the association for organising the job fair with support from the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), adding: “Businesses need to survive to create employment opportunities for the teeming youth in the country”.
