Beach Soccer AFCON: Alexander Adjei nets hat-trick as Ghana beat Mozambique to finish fifth
The Black Sharks of Ghana claimed the fifth position at the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Hurghada, Egypt, after eating Mozambique in the classification match.
After finishing third in Group A, the West Africans were drawn against Mozambique, who were also third from Group B for the fifth and sixth place play-off.
In a highly entertaining game, the Black Stars opened the scoring in the first period through Wise Nyamadi before leading goal-scorer Alexander Adjei doubled the lead in the second period.
However, the Mozambicans pulled one back to set up a fierce contest in the second half but Ghana extended their lead again through Richard Osai to make it 3-1 before the end of the period.
Mozambique pulled one back in the final period before Adjei added his second of the game.
The South Africans pulled one back to reduce the deficit to 4-3 but Adjei, who has been a star at the tournament completed his hat-trick to hand Ghana victory.
Adjei leaves the competition with 11 goals from four matches.
