Akufo-Addo officially unveils National Service Authority

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially unveiled the National Service Authority (NSA), a move that aims to empower its mandate, to legally institute policies and programmes.

This aligns with the passage of the National Service Authority Bill 2024, in July to mobilize service personnel to areas of national interest.

As a legally recognized Authority, the NSA will have the capacity to enter into contractual agreements, an act the institution registered as a challenge, before its debut.

Speaking at the launch, on Friday, October 18, President Akufo-Addo commended the contributions of the institution to national development and its role in saving the country 3 billion Ghana cedis annually.

He emphasized that this new transformation, will among other things, equip the youth with workable skills, for the development of the country.

“It also saves the country some GHC3 billion annually in wage cost. This transformation of the Scheme into the National Service Authority equips it to take on an even more expansive role in nation-building.

“This will ensure that the Authority will not only mobilise, and deploy service personnel, but will also equip them with employable skills, positioning them for greater success in their post-service lives.

“I have every confidence that in the next administration, led, by Insha, our Vice President and the NPP Presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will build on this foundation to ensure that the authority continues to be the driving force for the development of our youth”.
