A 43-year-old man has been arrested by police for physically assaulting his 20-year-old daughter at Twifo Praso in the Central Region.
The incident occurred after a disagreement between the two, resulting in a physical attack by Nana Amo Abraham.
Abraham is currently in police custody, cooperating with the police as investigations proceed, and will soon face court proceedings.
To ensure the victim receives proper medical attention, the police have arranged for her transportation to the Police Hospital in Accra.
The incident happened on Thursday, July 25, 2024.
According to eyewitnesses, the mother, identified as Madam Fidal, a teacher at Gomoa Dominase D/A JHS, subjected her son to inhumane treatment after he refused to go to school.
The mother had asked her son to bathe and get ready for school, as it was the last day before vacation.
However, the boy refused to obey which infuriated the mother.
In a fit of rage, Madam Fidal retrieved electrical cables from a room and used them to whip her son mercilessly.
The beatings continued until concerned residents intervened and rescued the child.
Afterwards, the mother reportedly left her son on the floor, to suffer the pain of the torture.
Eyewitnesses condemned the act and reported Madam Fidal to the community authorities.
Although the case has not been formally reported to the police, community leaders have promised to take action.
The boy was later taken to a nearby health facility for treatment.
