Battle for Semenyo: Arsenal & Newcastle United eye €40m Bournemouth star
Arsenal and Newcastle United are set to compete for the signing of Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in the upcoming January transfer window.
Semenyo, 24, has impressed this season, scoring three goals in seven league appearances, which has drawn interest from both clubs.
According to reports from Fichajes, Arsenal and Newcastle are preparing €40 million bids for the talented winger; however, Bournemouth may hold out for a higher fee due to Semenyo’s long-term contract, which runs until 2029.
Arsenal aims to strengthen their squad depth as they compete in multiple competitions, including the UEFA Champions League.
With his versatile skillset, Semenyo is eyed to bolster Arsenal’s attack alongside Saka and Martinelli, and Newcastle see him as the missing piece to their front three, pairing with Isak and Gordon.
Bournemouth, however, is reluctant to let Semenyo go, especially in the middle of the season. The Cherries have already lost Dominik Solanke and won’t want to weaken their squad further. To tempt them, Arsenal and Newcastle United will likely need to make a substantial offer, with Tottenham also reportedly considering a €40 million bid.
The battle for Semenyo’s signature is heating up, and it’ll be interesting to see where he ends up. Will it be Arsenal, Newcastle United, or will Bournemouth manage to keep hold of their star player?
