Division One League referees complete comprehensive training course
The Referees Department has completed a thorough training course for Division One League (DOL) referees at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, from October 12 to October 15. Group 1 participants, consisting of 30 referees and 30 assistant referees, were equipped with skills vital for officiating the upcoming season.
The sessions covered a range of key topics, including updates to the 2024/25 Laws of the Game, technical analysis, and fitness preparation. Referees received practical training on game scenarios, including managing offside calls, interpreting handball situations, and handling penalty incidents. Emphasis was placed on understanding tactical fouls, positioning, and maintaining control of the game.
Beyond theoretical knowledge, participants underwent fitness checks, video reviews, and game-specific drills to enhance on-field decision-making. A special session on integrity highlighted the importance of professionalism while training on the Competitions Management System (CMS) prepared referees for effective digital record management.
The course was supervised by the Referees Committee and the Referees Department, with guidance from national and regional instructors, ensuring referees are well-prepared to uphold high standards of officiating in the DOL.
