Prophet Salifu Amoako and wife arrested over fatal East Legon accident

The Ghana Police have arrested the founder of Alive Chapel International Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, and his wife Mouha Amoako, over the fatal accident at East Legon which claimed two lives over the weekend.

The two are the parents of the suspect driver who rammed into a stationary car at top speed, leading to multiple deaths.

In a statement dated October 15, the police said that on October 12, the suspect driver, 16-year-old younger Salifu Amoako, drove a Jaguar SUV with registration number GN 7801 – 20 into a 4×4 Acura vehicle, with registration number GR 2542 – 23.

The Acura had five occupants.

Both cars caught fire following the crash and burned beyond recognition.

The release added that Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and his wife were in police custody assisting in the investigation.

 

“The investigation further indicates that three of the five victims in the Acura vehicle during the accident were rescued, and the other two identified as Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, both 12 years of age, lost their lives.

“Two of the rescued victims who sustained minor injuries were treated and discharged, while the third is still on admission receiving medical attention,” the statement said.

It said the suspect driver and another occupant in the Juguar, were rescued, and are currently on admission at the hospital.

The police also assured the public of a thorough investigation into the accident to bring “closure to the affected family, as we continue to remember them in our prayers in this difficult time”.
