JB Danquah murder: Somebody slept on the job – Elder brother
Senior brother of the late JB Danquah-Adu, the then Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, George Twum-Barimah-Adu who is also an Independent Presidential Candidate in the 2024 general elections has expressed dissatisfaction in how the police and the government have handled the investigations into his brother’s murder.
He says a lot has gone by that could have been done sooner to unravel the mysterious death of the late New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP under the tenure of Nana Akufo-Addo led NPP government, but some people chose to sleep on their jobs when they should have been busy.
Twum-Barimah-Adu disclosed that the family was called to the CID when DCOP Tiwaa was the CID boss for briefing, and they realized that the police requested for the phone log of the accused murderer, Daniel Asiedu aka Sexy Don Don but for almost a year, nobody went for it.
“The police made a request for the phone log of the prime suspect, Daniel Asiedu alias Sexy Don Don, the day after the murder of my brother JB Dankwa, but the family got to know at the CID office that nobody has gone for the log, and when they finally went for it, they were told by the telcos that six months had passed so they had wiped all their records,” he revealed.
Twum-Barimah-Adu is of the view that, it could have been a good lead in that case, the police could have realized who the suspect was talking to before and who he spoke to after.
“Somebody slept on the job when they should have been busy. What pains me is that if the police had gone for the call log, that would have helped a great deal because at least we would have known the few minutes or hours before, who the alleged murderer was talking to and afterward who he was calling, at least that could have helped” he bemoaned.
When asked how he received the news of his brother’s death, the presidential candidate said that he was in his house when he got a call from his late brother’s wife around 2:10 am that something had happened, so he drove over and got to the murdered MP’s house around 2:34 am and met the police there.
The police made him wait till they ushered him upstairs to his brother’s room around 3:00 am where his still body was lying down.
