Ghana FA salutes fans after Black Stars’ draw against Sudan

Ghana FA has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the passionate fans who filled the Accra Sports Stadium for the Black Stars’ 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan.

The match ended in a disappointing goalless draw, leaving the Black Stars needing their remaining three matches in the qualifiers to secure qualification to next year’s tournament in Morocco.

In a statement, the GFA acknowledged the vital role that fans play in the team’s performance, calling them the “12th player” on the field.

“Dear passionate Ghanaian football fans, we are thrilled to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who filled the Accra stadium to cheer on our beloved Black Stars against Sudan,” the GFA stated.

“Your energy, enthusiasm, and unwavering support were the 12th player on the field, driving our team forward.”

“Your presence and loyalty are what make Ghanaian football truly special. We appreciate the sacrifices you made to be there, from braving the traffic to securing tickets and joining the sea of passionate fans. Your voices, drums, and cheers created an electric atmosphere that inspired our players to give their all.”

“We would like to thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the massive support and organizational prowess, not forgetting the National Sports Authority, the Security Services, i.e., the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Fire Service, the National Security, and the Media,” the FA said.

Black Stars now find themselves in a precarious position in the AFCON qualifying campaign, having secured only two points from their first three matches. With critical games ahead, the GFA emphasized the importance of fan support in the quest for qualification.

“Thank you for being an integral part of our football community. We are honoured to have agencies, institutions, and fans like you who embody the spirit of Ghanaian football. We look forward to your continued support as we strive for greatness.”

Ghana FA remains hopeful that the fans’ unwavering loyalty will help propel the team to victory in the crucial match against Sudan on Tuesday.
