Golf: Accra Open-AGC 90TH Anniversary Golf Festival Commences November 18
The Achimota Golf Club will celebrate its 90th anniversary with the Accra Open and Festival of Golf Week that runs from November 18 to November 23. The event will feature various tournaments and activities involving over 120 players at the junior and senior levels.
The festivities will start on Monday, November 18th, with a tournament for 54 junior players in the morning, followed by a tournament for 72 senior players (60 years and over) later in the day.
On Tuesday, 96 Division C players (with handicaps of 25 and higher) will compete to determine the top three players in the men’s and ladies sections.
The PRO-AM tournament will take place on Wednesday. Twenty businesses can enter a team of four players, including one professional and three amateurs. The proceeds from this tournament will go towards sponsoring the Professional Tournament.
Thursday will feature 54 Professional Golfers playing day one of their 4-day tournament. Following them, 74 Division B players will compete for trophies in this category.
The official Accra Open for A Division players will begin on Friday, with 72 players teeing off. This tournament is played over three days, with only 36 players proceeding to play on the final day (Sunday).
Friday will also be day two of the Professional Tournament, with the best 27 scores determining which players advance to the last two days.
Saturday will be day two of the Accra Open and day three of the Professional Tournament. The best 36 scores will qualify for the final day of the Accra Open.
On Sunday, the Accra Open and the Professional Tournament will conclude, with the final round determining the champions. The Achimota 90th Anniversary Festival Week of Golf will end with a banquet where all the winners will be acknowledged.
