Everything in place for Accra Sports Stadium to continue hosting category three games – Charles Amofah
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Charles Amofah, believes everything is in place for the Accra Sports Stadium to continue hosting CAF Category Three matches.
He is making these remarks after the Confederation of African Football granted temporary approval for the facility to host the Ghana vs. Sudan Africa Cup of Nations qualifier this coming Thursday.
The Ministry and the Ghana Football Association had to request CAF to come and inspect the Accra Sports Stadium after the approval of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was withdrawn.
It was apparent Ghana was going to play outside the country before President Akufo-Addo intervened himself for the stadium to be approved.
“A lot of things happened for Ghana to be able to play at the Accra Sports Stadium,” Amofah told Asempa FM.
“Everything else CAF wants to be in place for the facility to be able to honor Category Three matches, the government has been able to do all that.
“All those things were in place already, but wear and tear occurred.”
