Mohammed Kudus’ high price tag poses challenge for interested clubs

West Ham star Mohammed Kudus is unlikely to depart the London Stadium next summer, primarily due to his substantial £85million release clause, according to former Hammers scout Mick Brown.

Despite attracting attention from elite Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea, Brown suggests that the financial burden may dissuade potential suitors.

“I’ve seen an £85million release clause mentioned; I’ve heard that could put some of the interested clubs off of a move,” Brown shared with Football Insider.

He pointed out that clubs capable of meeting the fee may not necessarily need a player in Kudus’ position, complicating any potential transfer.

Brown elaborated, “Liverpool won’t be able to afford it; where would he fit in the Arsenal team? Where does he go in the Chelsea team?” These statements cast doubt on the feasibility of a summer move for Kudus, especially considering the competitive nature of rosters at other top clubs.

Currently in his second season with West Ham after joining from Ajax in the summer of 2023, Kudus had an impressive debut season, netting 13 goals across all competitions.

However, this season has presented challenges, with Kudus struggling to find the net until scoring his first goal against Ipswich over the weekend after a seven-match drought. As he aims to regain his form, the questions surrounding his future at West Ham remain a focal point.
