2025 AFCONQ: Thomas Partey, three others to miss Sudan game
The Black Stars have a tough task ahead, facing Sudan in Accra on October 10 and away on Monday, October 14 without several key players who are out injured.
Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, Los Angeles Galaxy’s Joseph Paintsil, Feyenoord’s Ibrahim Osman and Samsunspor defender Kingsley Schindler have been confirmed injured and will miss the ties.
This development comes at a time when several footballers deal with injuries in the early stages of the 2024-2025 season that will affect their appearance for their respective national teams.
A spate of injuries has hit international football as well, with Vinicius Junior (Brazil), Kobbie Mainoo (England), and Noussair Mazzraoui (Morocco) ruled out, and England captain Harry Kane’s fitness being closely assessed.
In-form AZ Alkmaar’s winger Ibrahim Sadiq and Elfsborg midfielder Michael Baidoo have been reportedly called up as replacements.
Ghana ranks third in Group F with just a point ahead of taking on second-ranked Sudan with three points from two games played.
