THE CHAIR IS OUT: Mohammed Kudus scores season’s first in West Ham win
Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus has scored his debut goal in the 2024-2025 season and is off the mark for the campaign.
Kudus’ first goal of the season came in West Ham’s 4-1 win over Ipswich Town in the English Premier League at the London Stadium after a rather slow start to his second season in the division.
The Ghanaian star reacted faster and rose high to connect his head to a rebound shot off the cross bar and score just before the end of the first half to give West Ham United a 2-1 lead. He proceeded to hit his infamous Landlord Pose to celebrate the goal.
Kudus’ goal came on the back of getting surprisingly substituted in the 46th minute for Carlos Soler in West Ham’s 1-1 draw with Brentford in the immediate past league game. The win is West Ham’s first at the London Stadium this season.
The Athletic reported that Kudus and West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui had to be separated in the dressing room after the substitution and Lopetegui’s post-game presser where he suggested that Kudus needed to be more of a team player.
Kudus was substituted in the 85th minute for Luis Guilherme with West Ham leading 4-1. The former Ajax Amsterdam has been called up to the Black Stars 2025 AFCON double header against Sudan on October 10 and October 15 during the international break.
